Sam did a great job on this project. This project was to take a small
Rails based web-app that was built nearly 10 years ago and transfer it
to be hosted on Heroku. As you can imagine, it was not just a matter
of moving over to a new web-host - the app had to be entirely updated
so it would run on the more modern software stack, and Sam was able to
provide an accurate estimate and timeline, as well as a clear path
forward to make all of this happen.
Once we agreed on a path forward, Sam executed the work and followed
all of my specific instructions. This was super-important for me
because often with a project like this, just as important as getting
the work done is all of the peripheral things that need to happen -
making sure the github repository gets final versions of the code,
ensuring the web-hosting account is properly set up, and confirming
that permissions, notifications, user accounts, and everything else is
set up in a way that makes final handoff of the project very easy!
If there were questions or things Sam noticed along the way during the
project, he would proactively communicate them, often recording a
quick screen-share with video clearly explaining the issues and
options, which made it very easy for me to understand the issues and
make decisions. This was hugely helpful to keep things moving during a
relatively quick-turnaround project.
Even after the project was finished, Sam was happy to answer my
wrap-up questions and he followed up to make sure everything went
smoothly with final site launch, which I very much appreciated.
This was my first experience using UpWork and I feel like I really
lucked out getting to work with Sam - I won't hesitate to hire him for
my next Rails project!
